FAQ on the reissue of a driving licence after revocation
Driving licence reissue without examination?
It depends on the competent authority whether you have to take a theoretical and practical examination. This is handled differently from case to case.
When does the revocation of a driving licence become time-barred?
In most cases, the re-issuance of the driving licence is tied to passing an MPU.
However, if you don't want to take an MPU or have problems affording the usually very high costs for it, there is another possibility to get your driving licence back.
15 years after your driving licence has been revoked, your offences no longer have any influence on your driving licence file and must be deleted. This is called a 15-year erasure period.
Often, after such a long period without a driving licence, your skills and knowledge are doubted and a theoretical and practical test is ordered.
What are the consequences of driving without a licence?
Driving without a licence is a criminal offence. You can find the far-reaching consequences here
