FAQ
FAQ FOR THE ADVANCED SEMINAR
How long does the refresher course for novice drivers last?
The ASF seminar consists of four sessions of 135 minutes each. In addition, there is a driving test (observation drive) between the first and second appointment. According to the law, the refresher course must last between two and four weeks. So that you can complete the seminar as quickly as possible, the seminars at DriveX usually only last two weeks.
What can I expect during the driving test?
Don't worry, this sounds worse than it actually is.
During the observation drive, you are in a group of up to three other novice drivers from your course together in the car and observe the driving behaviour of the others using an observation sheet. There is neither a test nor can your existing driving licence be taken away again.
Where can I attend the advanced seminar?
Where you attend the advanced seminar is up to you. There is no location restriction here and you can choose the right course for you anywhere in Germany. However, since you have to come to your driving school four times, your seminar location should be easy to integrate into your everyday life. At DriveX, the seminars take place either at Munich's Ostbahnhof or in Bogenhausen.
What happens if I do not attend the follow-up seminar?
You should definitely attend a refresher course for novice drivers within the set time limit in order to avoid having your driver's license revoked. Otherwise, your driver's license cannot be reinstated until you can present a certificate of attendance to the responsible authority. Until then you are not allowed to drive. In order to receive a certificate of attendance, you must attend all four appointments and the observation drive.
Who must attend a refresher course for novice drivers?
An ASF seminar is ordered if you have committed one category A offence (e.g. smartphone driving or speeding more than 21 km/h) or two category B offences (e.g. driving with worn tyres) during your probationary period.
Special advanced seminar
A special postgraduate seminar is ordered in the event of an alcohol or drug-related driving offence. You cannot attend this seminar at a driving school, so it is best to contact:
TÜV SÜDAdvanced seminar during Corona
Due to the current situation, the competent authority can extend the deadline of the order. However, you should not wait too long, as the ASF seminars are usually booked up quickly.
Individual seminar or group seminar?
Studying abroad or working late into the night? No problem, at DriveX you can also book the ASF seminar as an individual seminar. All we need is an individual permit from the issuing authority. You can ask the authorities about this informally.
As soon as we have the permit, we can arrange the dates for your individual seminar together with you.
Further offence during the probationary period?
If you commit another category A offense (or two category B offenses) after successfully completing the remedial seminar, you will be warned in writing by the responsible authority. If you commit a third violation, your driver's license will be revoked.
What about the probationary period?
The probationary period is extended to a total of four years. The decisive factor is the date on which your driver's license was issued (this can be found on the back of your driver's license).
