What do I have to do to upgrade my driving licence from A1 to A2 (or from A2 to A)?
If you have held your motorcycle licence for at least two years (the date of the practical test is decisive), you can easily upgrade to the next higher class. All you need to do is take a shortened practical test of 45 minutes.
Can I upgrade to the next higher motorcycle class even earlier than two years?
Yes, it is possible. However, we recommend that you wait the two years, otherwise you will have to complete both a theoretical training (including theoretical exam) and the 12 special rides.
Can you also upgrade from A1 to A?
You cannot skip a driving licence class. If you want to upgrade directly from A1 to A, you have to take both a theory test and a 60-minute practical driving test.
Furthermore, you have to attend the theory lessons again and complete the 12 x45 minutes special driving test.
How many driving hours are required for advancement/extension?
There is no specific number of driving hours required. Your driving instructor at DriveX will get an idea of your knowledge together with you and plan the training plus the test together with you.
It is not possible to do without any driving lessons at all, because the driving instructor has to get an idea of the applicant's practical knowledge before he can allow him to take the practical test.
What can you expect in the practical extension/advancement test?
In a 40-minute test drive, you must prove that you have safe control of the motorcycle and behave in accordance with traffic regulations both in and out of town. In addition, four basic driving tasks must be completed:
1. emergency braking from 50 km/h
2. swerving
3. swerving without braking
4. after braking slalom at walking pace
